About people who are not members
Members can add relatives and friends by name: to a family tree (names, birthdays, dates of passing, how they are related), as a guest in a circle, or as the reader of a letter. A member can also send a story link to an older relative, who records an answer in their own voice, and event guests can add photos through a guest link without an account. We keep this so the circle that added it can see it. If you are one of these people and want something changed or removed, email us.
How you use mAISpace
What we do not collect
We do not track your location; places on the map are only the ones you type in. We do not read your phone's contacts. We use your camera, microphone and photo library only when you tap a button to take a photo, record, scan a barcode or pick a picture.
You can change every one of these choices on mAIAccount.
mAIa, the app's helper, is powered by Claude, an AI model made by Anthropic, which processes data for us as our AI provider. Nothing is sent until you agree in the “Before mAIa helps” screen. When you use mAIa (Ask mAIa, writing help, scans and imports), we send Anthropic what you type or say to her, photos or screenshots you choose to scan, and the parts of your space she needs to answer — names, birthdays and plans of people in your circles, and your lists. If you ask for a written transcript of a story someone recorded for you, the words their phone heard are sent too. Anthropic does not use this data to train its models, and we never sell it. You can turn mAIa off any time on mAIAccount.
We use a few trusted companies to run the app. They handle your information only to do that job for us, under their own security programs, and may not use it for anything else.
Our services are based in the United States, and your information is stored and handled there.
We share information outside the services above only when the law requires it (for example, a court order), to protect someone from serious harm, or to report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. If Personal Evolution LLC is ever sold or merged, this policy goes with your information, and we will tell you first.
Text notifications are optional and off by default. If you add a phone number on mAIAccount, verify it with a one-time code, and turn on Text notifications, we will send you transactional texts about your circles: an invitation to a family or friends circle, a new follower, or something a member added to a space you share. We do not send marketing texts.
Message frequency varies with activity in your circles; a typical member receives a few messages per month. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or switch off Text notifications on mAIAccount; reply HELP for help. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of using mAISpace. We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number is used only to sign you in, to verify it is yours, and to deliver the messages you opted into. It is stored on our servers, sent to our messaging provider (Twilio) solely to send those codes and messages, and is never sold. The above excludes text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

mAISpace keeps a few small things in your browser or app: what keeps you signed in, your settings (such as light or dark mode), lists you saved for use offline, and a random number that lets us count a visit before you sign up. We set no advertising cookies and do not follow you around other websites.
mAISpace is meant to keep your family's story for years, so we keep what you add for as long as your account exists, or until you delete it. We don't delete quiet accounts. A simple usage count may keep a random account number after you leave, but never your name, phone or email.
When something is deleted, it can stay for a limited time in backup copies and system logs kept by us and the services we use, until those copies are cleared. We never use them to bring back an account or anything you deleted.
You can delete your account yourself on mAIAccount (Advanced, then Delete account). It happens as soon as you confirm, and it cannot be undone. Step-by-step help is on how deleting works.

Kept for your circles either way
Circles you started stay for the people in them, and another member looks after each one. Trips, events, lists, polls and time capsules you made, and photos you added to a trip or an event, pass to that member so the family keeps its plans. A letter someone else keeps stays with them.

Use Download my data on mAIAccount, or Download everything before you delete, to save one file with your journal, letters, messages, moments and lists. It holds only what you wrote, never other people's messages.
Can't sign in? Email support@maispace.net from the email on your account, or tell us the phone number you sign in with, and say which choice you want.
Wherever you live, you can:
California and other US states. Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas and other states with privacy laws have the right to know what we collect and why (this page), to get a copy, to correct and to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted ads. We do none of those things, so there is nothing to opt out of. We use health items and other sensitive details only to run your space, never for ads. We will never treat you differently for using your rights. If we turn down a request, you can ask us to look at it again.
Outside the United States. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom or a place with similar laws, you can also ask us to limit or stop using your information, or to send it to another service, and you can complain to your local data protection authority. We use your information to provide the service you signed up for, with your consent (for mAIa and texts), and to keep people safe.
To make any request, email support@maispace.net. We may ask you to confirm it is really you. We answer within 45 days, and usually much sooner. Someone you authorize may ask for you.

Everything travels over encrypted connections. Access rules in our database let each person read only what they are allowed to see. Photos and recordings are kept in private storage and opened with links that expire. Phone numbers are checked with a code before we use them. No system is perfect, so keep your phone and email secure. If we ever learn of a breach that affects you, we will tell you.
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and change the date at the top.
